Egg Chasing World Cup

The futility of bolstering numbers with second-rate has come home to roost, with New Zealand hammering Romania and Wales getting beaten by Fiji.
What a powerhouse like Fiji are doing playing a small nation like Wales needs to be answered.
Mind you, Australia have a virtual bye against England, so maybe there should be 2 world cups. [...]

Bike Dealer Recommendation

Silverstone Harley Davidson are a really good bunch. Large stock, attentive folk and Ozzy on the sound system.
Very impressive, with lots of stuff to sit on, including a number of Buells.
Well recommended!

Radio 1 (again)

It got worse today.
Not content with playing cover versions of songs from Roxy Music and Wings (c1974) they then go and feature an evening with Ozzy Osbourne.
Ozzy, that bastion of all good things for the teenager/ early 20’s folk.
Telling tales about The Beatles/ stealing cars/ eating bats and all from the time before they were [...]

Happy Birthday Radio 1

40 years old and celebrating like a celebratory radio station.
Great fun, especially the Golden Hour with Chris Moyles.
It’s been a delight listening to tunes from the past which I remember from my younger days. Shame, then, that the target demographic is the 16 - 24 year old rather than doddery old blokes like me.
It [...]

£800,000 car

On Sunday I saw a real, live, driving Bugatti Veyron.
Very nice, if a little dull with the red and black paint work.
On further investigation, it seems that £800,000 still doesn’t get you anti-chip paint. That’s another £5k or something.
But the best bit is that it was sticking to the 60 mph limit, so I [...]

Where are they now?

On Saturday I passed the Ovaltine factory which set me thinking.
Where are the Ovaltinies?
And are they now happy grandmothers and grandfathers?
I hope so …

Empire (8) - They Hate Freedom

Funnily enough we don’t. We are free to do and say what we like, but what we like is a lack of danger, a decent amount of order and an appropriate level of respect.
Mr Grasse talks about Scotland Yard being unfair to the Irish is a fair call. Shame he misses the usual [...]

Empire (7) - Cutting the head off William Wallace

Yep, all true.
Wallace was hung, drawn and quartered by the English.
He was a rebel after all, and that’s what happened back then!
No Abu Grahib, no Camp Delta, just a trial of sorts then an execution.
It was the usual treatment for enemies of the Crown or anyone else until the 1700’s or so. [...]

Derby v Gooners

Ever wondered how nasty football fans can be?
If so, get a copy of The Away Boys CD Reds which asks this and a number of other questions of Cashley Cole. It isn’t nice; it is funny.
Unlike Derby yesterday who tried to play attacking and entertaining football against a World-class Arsenal side.
In some ways travelling [...]

War

What is it good for?
Nothing.
Nothing was worth Mr N dying for, nothing.
Rest in Peace.
I’ll do what I can, but it’s nothing in comparison …..
