Update on Prawns

David (not Dave as previously stated – many apologies) was ‘totally disgusted’ after eating the prawn’s head, brains, stomach, etc.

However, the restorative effects of San Miguel ‘por favor’ and garlic served with mushrooms seemed to prevent any technicolour yawns.

So well done mate – keep up the stirling work!

Currywurst

Excellent scram – although the one I ate at lunchtime was perhaps a little too long.

Barely fitted on the plate – even when curled around!

Scary – especially when served with a barbecue style sauce with curry powder sprinkled on top!

If you are in Hannover drop into ‘“… und der böse Wolf’ – a pub in Linden.

Great atmosphere and brilliant Thai food.

Marmite is French????

I was offered Parisienne Potatoes last week at a training course.

Which were spuds, bolied , coated in Marmite and then roasted.

Since when has Marmite been indicative of any collection with French Cuisine?????

The Rose and Crown in Warwick has just delivered a superb festive menu.

Go there soon – the normal menu is excellent – and enjoy!

It’s on the Market Place next to the statue of the boxer whose name escapes me.

Hannover Christmas Market

It’s great!

Mulled wine, sausages, pancakes, waffles, doughnuts, gifts, garbage, nuts, Germans and all for a few quid.

It’s a great experience and very funny to be in the middle of it.

I spent about 10 Euros and had a fantastic time even in the cold and light drizzle.

Highly recommended!

Open Apple Pie

Oh yes.

Shortcrust pastry, rolled out on a baking tray. Chop apples up into little bits.

Drop them in the middle, drizzle honey over, sprinkle with cinnamon.

Push the pastry up over the sides of the apple pile. Leave a hole in the middle.

Glaze pastry with egg, then sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon then stick in the oven at 190 for 40 minutes.

Lovely stuff!

Mango Lassi

Ooh what a drink!

Yogurt, mango puree, water, sugar, lime juice.

Mix it, pour over crushed ice, sprinkle with ground ginger and enjoy!

Fantastic and so, so simple.
