Sat in The Dublin Inn in Hannover settled down to watch the Champions League semi-final second leg. Just waiting for mates to turn up for the second half and we’re away! Strange sitting here ‘blogging’ with a bunch of Germans in an Irish boozer with English TV and The Dubliners warbling away in the background [...]

German TV crashes into football rather than making a massive event. It also forces the ‘experts’ outside like the fans. And then instead of analysing the game for 15 minutes over half time they go to the news and then chat about the game for a couple of minutes before kick off. Imagine, no more [...]

Well done to Wales, Lewis Hamilton and England for their wins over the weekend. Strange to say that Derby losing 0-1 against Man U also warrants a warm feeling. Defeat is normally bitter but not conceding 6 – 8 goals kind of gives me hope. How sad is that?

It’s all been a bit mad on the Sporting front. The NFL Conference Play-offs happened and despite a brave (and injured – three key players injured and struggling) effort the Patriots beat the Chargers. All a bit depressing except for the way the Bolts have improved during the season and the competitive spirit shown in [...]

So it’s started. It’s all a bit frantic with a mix of skill, endevour and complete ineptitude. Fascinating stuff especially with a German commentry running!

This weekend I managed to watch football (Derby) and rugby (Nottingham) ‘live’, in the flesh and then watched a few games (parts of all four) NFL play-off games. The rugby was really fun, although I expect the openness at National Division 1 or whatever it is comes from teams not being quite as good as [...]

Martin Keown was describing Christiano Ronaldo playing football today. Now Little Chris is known for a little thing he does called a Stepover. He is also known in Tabloid World for ‘entertaining’ young ladies. So maybe it wasn’t a mistake when he described a ‘legover’ during the game today ….

Why does there seem to be an either/ or mentality surrounding the two games. It’s like suggesting that it’s wrong to like blondes and brunettes; red or white wine; bitter or lager. They are both different. Both enjoyable. And tonight England are in the World Cup Final. Which is a good thing and completely different [...]

Ever wondered how nasty football fans can be? If so, get a copy of The Away Boys CD Reds which asks this and a number of other questions of Cashley Cole. It isn’t nice; it is funny. Unlike Derby yesterday who tried to play attacking and entertaining football against a World-class Arsenal side. In some [...]

England win 3-0 again. Heskey and Owen are back and doing the business. Yet again injuries force the manager to change players and tactics and the result is an improved performance. And that is great. But how much better is it to see France losing to Scotland and the Tartan Army being back with a [...]
