Update on Prawns

David (not Dave as previously stated - many apologies) was 'totally disgusted' after eating the prawn's head, brains, stomach, etc.

However, the restorative effects of San Miguel 'por favor' and garlic served with mushrooms seemed to prevent any technicolour yawns.

So well done mate - keep up the stirling work!

Do Not Eat

Battered prawns from the head end when the head and brains are attached,

Dave is about to throw up ...

It’s a Long Way to Stockholm!

2662.5 miles, actually, which is a long way. Especially in a car.

The sunset on the lake North of Jonkoping was spectacular. The bird of prey by the motorway in Malmo was majestic. Bridges in Denmark, a ferry to Germany and lots of trees.

I wouldn't rush to repeat ...

Olympics

How often can you see top sportsmen and women competing in all kinds of daft things that you'd never normally watch and still get enthralled?

Synchronised diving, Archery, Judo, Canoeing, etc. are all sports that I am aware of but also ones that I'd never bother watching normally.

I'm thinking that I ...

Queen’s Park, Chesterfield

I went to watch Derbyshire and Surrey in Pro-40 cricket action today and it was delightful.

Queen's Park is really perfect for cricket - and old pavilion, knowledgable crowd, lots of refreshments, trees and a brass band.

If you can, get there and watch a game.

Just don't expect to see a great ...

London Sights

I was in London today and as it was hot there were all kinds of sights on offer.

A woman in a wheelchair in front of a bus, protesting I assume at her denied boarding made for an interesting spectacle. The same woman in discussion with a couple of cops ...

Ants

Is there anything more irritating than ants in the garden?

They run everywhere, get irritated when disturbed and bite on a whim.

Belsen …

After over a year travelling back and forth to Germany, I finally made it to the Belsen memorial. Truly horrific in scale, depressing and moving in equal measure. It's hidden from the road by trees but it really makes for a strange experience as you walk around.

Ann Frank ...

Pain in the Butt

Almost in bed when the hotel announcement goes off telling us to evacuate.

Glad it wasn't for real, and that it was warm and dry.
